Due to the overwhelming interest in how Bonnie is doing - I figured I would put all updates in one spot - that way everyone can see what is going on instead of waiting for emails from me.
As of today, the 20th, Mom is located at Virgina Mason on Capitol Hill on Seneca. She is on Rehab floor 9 in Room 18. She is getting physical therapy and occupational therapy usually 4 times a day.
Bonnie is enjoying visitors. She may look distracted while talking to you - but she's mostly listening. :) She will often play with things, but I think some of that is just boredom. She has mentioned being bored but her attention span is not quite there to do much else but watch tv.
I will be visiting her later today and will post an update when I get home.

ReplyDeleteWork really hard, my friend, so you can graduate out of there soon. Thanks, Jenya for helping us keep in touch. Love you both.
ReplyDeleteBonnie,
ReplyDeleteCard making today was just not the same without you! Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we are anxiously awaiting your return.

Thanks, Jenya, for setting the blog up for Bonnie. You are the best daughter! Bonnie, glad that we were able to visit you yesterday. Keep up the pt/ot so you can come home very soon to Pete and Emma. Our thoughts and love are with you always. Diane
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenya. It was great to see Bonnie yesterday with Lynn and Francine. With her typical wit, she pointed to the shaved patch on her head and said, "Cute, huh?" Lynn promised to help her with a comb-over when she comes home. (Liz)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteNothing like a brain tumor to hear from friends from the past. I think of you often and have been kept up to date on your work, retirement and now this little set-back by Maryellen. I was looking forward to seeing you at our next "out-to-lunch" day. (maybe in December!!!)
My best friend from high school had a seisure on Dec.31,2008, had brain surgury, radiation and is now doing aggressive chemo.(same big scare and staples..lost her hair during radiation, was told it might not grow back but it has..) I went home from the hospital with her and have attended many of her doctor appointments and even went into the radiation unit to watch them get her ready), so I know a little about what you are going through. My friend's advise...keep a positive attitude, educate yourself, allow your freinds and family to help in anyway they can and want, when able join a support group, and she suggests a book to read which I will send or bring to you.I have kept a diary of my freind's journey and have spend many days and nights laughing and crying with her. There are good days and there are great days...each day a blessing. I will keep you in my prayers and beleive me, the power of prayer is emence...I now believe, as does my friend (Judy), in miracles!
I will come see you when you are more comfortable with having visitors. We have a lot to catch up on.

Jenya, please give your Mom a bunch of boogies from your Illinois cousins! I am saying many prayers with Grandma O'Toole's Virgin Mary, Uncle Arts many holy statues and have all the Barkers praying for a painfree recovery. I babysit Matt who suffered with multiple seizure disorder and had 2 brains surgeries this Jan-Feb.,09, and he is progressing wonderfully. Tumors are completely different, but technology is advancing so fast these days, I feel confident the Drs. will have Bonnie doing well soon. We all send our love to you all and our hearts and prayers are for you the caregivers as well as your Mom, team work and communication is key, so keep each other informed and show the love your hearts hold for one another! I was your Grandpa O'Toole's pen pal as a child, he would be very proud of your communicating skills, he had a way with words and a pen I've never found in another as yet, but you have inherited his gift of family love. If you need to talk I'm only a phone call away! Reverse the charges if you need to vent 1-708-448-4659. Tim Jr., sends his love to your Mom as we all do(Jr. visited in 1997), and as always your Parents were awesome! Give Uncle Jim some boogies, his sister is all he has left of his family, ask him some Uncle John jokes. I will also go to Evergreen Cemetery and pray to Grandma Schaffner and light a candle for your Mom. I am a firm believer in prayer. We might not always get what we ask for, but he hears us and protects us all. I love you Bonnie and will keep you in my heart and prayers daily(as I always do)!Pete, Misha,Sasha and Jenya stay tight and communicate and we are here you you if you need anything! Boogies to all. Love, Maribeth E-Mail timnmar09876@yahoo.com
